combustiblegeneral

Global research from 1990-2021 shows that while smoking-related mouth and lip cancer deaths have declined worldwide due to tobacco control efforts, cancer deaths from chewing tobacco have remained stubbornly high and are projected to stay that way through 2050. South Asia carries the heaviest burden, with women particularly affected by chewing tobacco.

Relevance to India: South Asia, where India is located, bears the highest global burden of tobacco-related oral cancer, making this research directly relevant to Indian public health priorities.
