E-cigarettes for harm reduction among COPD patients who smoke: A pilot investigation.
In a small pilot study, about half of COPD patients who smoke were able to reduce their cigarette consumption by at least 50% by switching to e-cigarettes over 12 weeks. Those who successfully switched showed measurable improvements in carbon monoxide levels and breathing-related quality of life scores, though other health improvements were more modest.
