E-Cigarette Perceptions Among Adults with Recent Myocardial Infarction or Heart Failure Diagnosis: Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health Study, 2022-2023.
A US study found that people who recently suffered heart attacks or heart failure showed little interest in switching from regular cigarettes to e-cigarettes, with only 4.5% expressing willingness to make the switch. Most participants (70%) believed e-cigarettes were very or extremely harmful, suggesting e-cigarette switching is unlikely to be an effective smoking reduction strategy for this high-risk cardiac population.
