AVI slams government on vape ban ordinance
An early reaction to reports the government would bring an ordinance banning e-cigarettes, ahead of the ordinance’s actual promulgation later that month — distinct from AVI’s later “regressive” response after the ordinance passed. AVI questioned the government’s impartiality given its 28% stake in ITC, calling the move an attempt to bypass the judiciary after both Delhi and Bombay High Courts had already stayed state-level vape bans. Quotes Samrat Chowdhery, Delhi HC lawyer Farrukh Khan and cardio-metabolic physician Dr Rohan Sequeira.
